Ingredients
• | Cornmeal | 1 cup |
• | Refined flour (maida) | 1 cup |
• | Baking powder | 1 teaspoon |
• | Sugar | 1 tablespoon |
• | Sea salt | 1 tablespoon |
• | Egg | 1 |
• | Milk | 1/2 cup |
• | Onion ,grated | 3/4 cup |
• | Oil | to deep fry |
Method
Mix cornmeal, refined flour, baking powder, sugar and sea salt in a bowl.Break egg in another bowl, add milk and whisk well. Add onion and egg mixture to the flour mixture and knead. If the mixture is too dry, add a little more milk and knead.
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Divide the mixture into equal medium sized portions and shape each of them into an oblong. Gently slide them into the hot oil and deep-fry till golden. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot.
